Oh my god what I have I started lol.

I mean I guess it's fine and all it's your money but I just don't like seeing that kind of wealth shoved in my face. Like I saw "Extreme Homes" on Discovery or something where this one family had a f**king bowling alley and a skate park for their kids in their own home and they were like "We have so many rooms in this house that we lost count after 36! Hawhawhawhaw!" With these kinds of shows, there is an undertone of "Look how much money we have, love us!" thinking that the audience will be impressed by it.

What will impress me is your personality and whether or not you're a nice, down-to-earth person. I don't give a sh*t about your money or your house, if you are a person that likes bragging about their income thinking you're god almighty, that's enough to turn me off. That's why I personally don't like people like Sparky1888, Salomondrin, Farshad, or any of those other egomaniac millionaire Instagrammers who just brag about their wealth. Barrett-Jackson also made a documentary on John Staluppi who is a millionaire yachtsman who always spends his money building a classic car collection. All I see there is an egofest. Do any of you see where I'm getting at?

Then why do you car spot? By your logic, every exotic car owner - heck, every owner of any remotely premium product - is shoving their wealth in your face in some form, even if it's unintentional. You can hate the wealthy all you want, but at the end of the day it's their money; they worked hard to make their money, and they can spend it on what they want.

"They work hard for their money"

Lemme tell you something, my dad works 20 hours a day and only gets four hours of sleep just to pay bills (and no he doesn't choose to do this it happened because of circumstances beyond our control). These people have a job where they can go home and have the weekends and holidays off and maybe even some vacation time. We can't do that. We have to do everything we possibly can to earn money so we can at least keep our house for another year or so. (FYI don't think we're broke as sh*t, if we lived anywhere else in the United States we would be well off)

I don't have a problem with wealthy people just because they're wealthy. I have a problem with the egomaniacs who go out of their way to shove it in your face that they're wealthy. A few weeks ago my mom was at the shopping center with our car (a 2002 Honda Odyssey). This Long Island woman with a giant Mercedes parks next to our car, proceeds to open her car door and slam her door in to ours causing a bunch of dents. My mom saw this and started going off on this woman and she said "Your car has a million dents in it, f*ck off" and left, basically saying "Your car is a piece of sh*t compared to mine".

I car spot because I love finding all of the different types of cars and I love them for their art value, not their money value. I love the way they sound, run, drive, feel etc. It's a great way to meet new people who have the same interests as you. Driving around in a car is kinda lowkey anyway. They aren't going out of their way to shove it in your face. They just like driving around in their cars and keeping to themselves. That I'm fine with. It's the ones who boast about it on Instagram and get hundreds of thousands of minions to join their cult that I have a problem with.

Well, I hope that your dad's job situation improves to where he can work less hours and still provide for the rest of you. I don't know what his job situation is (and I don't need to know), but I am curious: has he considered moving to somewhere more affordable, where he can work better hours and still be able to pay the bills and put food on the table? New York is a very nice state, but it's also expensive, and I can't help but wonder if somewhere like Georgia, North Carolina, or South Carolina would offer him a similar job but would be more affordable to live in.

As for New York drivers, don't take this personally (everyone on ES is excluded), but they generally suck, and they also have an attitude. I got rear-ended a couple months ago in Charlotte by some dingbat in an Impala (after he almost t-boned me a minute earlier); his car had NY plate, sticker showing support for a politician I don't agree with, and etc. He parked, got out, said "it's not that bad", and drove off. Like what the f*ck, dude? It's a great thing that I was in my dad's car that day and parts for it are soooo easy to find (/sarcasm).

As for the rest, I don't really feel like arguing it, so I'll just leave you with this:

"Yeah you're right they could have given that money to charity, to fund public schools, or help endangered species but no they decided to spend it on a f**king car." - Rivi3

Plus, why do automakers like Audi and Mercedes offer models like the CLA and A3? Is it to further their luxury intentions or give buyers who are desperate to drive a car with a premium badge a cr*ppy car?

Well thanks, we are planning on moving out of here once me and my two brothers graduate college. We're only here because of the exceptional school system and the SUNY colleges. Once we all graduate, my parents are probably going to be moving to Rhode Island. But anyways, I don't want to go further into our personal business so I'm just gonna end it here.

Personally I think Greenwich drivers are the worst. They honk at you if you don't go at a green light for a second, they cut you off, flip you off, etc.

I'm not entirely sure why Mercedes does things like the CLA 43, etc. I have no clue how those cars are so I really can't offer an opinion.

Sorry about whatever situation you're in (and I don't need to know what it is) but yes, those people do also work hard, very hard.

They may get days off and long vacations, some may get to stay home every day and let their employees run their businesses for them but unless you've lived their life, you have no idea the effort and stress they had to put into getting where they are now and even the stress they have to maintain on a daily basis.

Imagine losing hundreds of thousands of dollars on failed businesses, possibly dozens of times. Sometimes not even your money; it may be a friend's, parents', or the bank's. Stressing how you'll pay that off with the business that is now bankrupt. Then staying awake for days on end (possibly with the help of drugs) wondering what you're going to do to pay it off. It may take longer than intended to come up with the next venture; now you're getting charged interest and missing payments. Possibly juggling all this with a growing state of depression, self pity, and maybe even an addiction to meth or cocaine.

Then finally the idea strikes you when you discover a need in your community and although the debt may have grown large, you happen to get lucky and find an investor or friend willing to bet on you one last time. It becomes a great success and the loans get paid off, credit back where it should be, and your bills become self sustaining. After a couple weeks/months/years (depending on how good the idea was) you've finally made enough extra to treat yourself to that car that was on your childhood vision board. Yes, it may have been a couple million dollars but you had the money to spend without any impacts on the other aspects of your life and are confident you won't regret splurging a bit.

Now after all that hard work don't you think it's a little justified to drive it on the streets and show off your hard work and determination? Yes you may have a car that's worth more than 5 houses and could've funded a school or "gone to research;" and yes, there may be other vehicles that will get you around just as well for a fraction of that price but it's something you've always wanted and worked hard to get.

And don't forget the PTSD that may remain to even the happiest seeming of entrepreneurs. It'll cause tons of stress and even coping with that can be considered "work".

Now yes, I do agree there can also be the other end of that with the super rich kids who just inherit all their money from their parents and get spoiled from day one. The ones who go showing off all that money and brag about their stuff 24/7 to anyone and everyone they meet in person and online. They're undeniably incredibly annoying and haven't ever had to work or stress a day of their lives.

But even they have their struggles with self worth (mentally) and finding real friends who want to hang around them for who they are and not what they have can be quite challenging for that half of the wealthy. Do they go about their actions and purchases purely to brag; maybe? But even they buy those fancy houses and cars for a reason. And that reason is to find their value in society the only way they were taught by their equally spoiled parents; or the only way they can think of if their parents were the overworked entrepreneur in the previous example who didn't have time to spend with those kids during development.

Is anybody watching fresh_window_tint's (Junior from Cup Gang) livestream where he's explaining some beef with Salomondrin?

Hate to bring this topic back from the dead.

Just noticed people actually unfollowed me on IG just because I didn't post enough lol. I'm not gonna lie I found it a bit ridiculous. I was finishing off my second semester of college and very busy, along with actually spotting and learning Lightroom. And it paid off because now I'm posting again, better quality shots and I have so much content that I could post every day and not run out of content until September (and that's if I got no extra shots this summer but obviously I will). But still, just kind of bothered me lol.

I went a year without posting and actually gained like 25-40 followers. Were you at least liking stuff or commenting on photos? Cause sometimes when you do that they end up wanting to follow you.

Well I actually went from 950 to 990 between March and May when I didn't post and yeah I was pretty active at liking/commenting. But I have the unfollowers app and some people I've been mutual with since 2015 just up and unfollowed lol.

Hate to revive a dead old thread. But the petty drama on Instagram with car spotters still happens. I just went through somebody's stories on Instagram. I follow this guy solely because I like his photos. Otherwise he's just a despicable, excuse my language, c**t. He lives in my area and he's voiced many times how he doesn't like car spotters and all of that garbage. And I'm assuming he doesn't like me considering he follows every other car photographer in San Antonio I like except for me and other people who seem to focus on spotting. I have my reasons for spotting and I'm not one of those who likes to follow people home or invade people's privacy, etc. So outside of the "omg jump in front of a super car and take photos for likes on instagram" or anything like that, I don't see what's wrong with spotting. But I digress. He's an ass in many other ways, not gonna elaborate.

I'm scrolling through his stories and one of them is a screenshot of his notifications and somebody who recently liked a lot of his photos. He posts a lot of nice car pics, obviously, so this should be expected right?

No. "That's a good way to get you blocked" with a thumbs up emoji... God lee, how petty can you be? It takes a very special kind of moron to not only get annoyed about people appreciating their work but to publicly shame them and say "you're gonna get blocked"

Why tf can't people on Instagram get along instead of being condescending assholes like this? I put on my nice facade, admittedly, on Instagram but I do want to be as nice as possible and yet I still encounter snarkiness. I can't ask somebody a simple question without attitude. Sometimes I ask myself why I even do this cr*p.

Seems ridiculous. I just started my car spotting Instagram so I haven't really noticed much drama over it yet. Maybe that will change as my page gets more popular(which I hope it does get more popular) ;)
