As some of you are aware, we're going to redesign this site soon. First, we plan to do a little refresh on the layout, make it easier to browse, larger photos, better navigation, but we won't change much of the functionality at first.

Before we move to that phase, I want to hear some of your opinions. Can you guys answer these 2 questions:

1. When we redesign the site, what is the one thing you DO NOT want us to change or remove?

2. What is the one thing you really want this site to do that it currently isn't? (or what is the one thing you would want changed?)

thanks

I think deleting inactive accounts could have some benefits. Just an idea.

For the second question (I know you said 1 thing, but..) :

- What I'd like to see is having the option to directly reply to someone's comment on a photo.

- Improved image quality for uploads

- I'd like to see "Jaguar XKR" category removed and also replace "Jaguar F-Type" category with "Jaguar F-Type Project 7" I think regular F-Types and XKRs aren't very exotic. And theres a seperate category for XKRS anyway. (<-- some people may argue this one..)

- More new categories

1.
Dont remove likes and favorites as well as commenting.

2.
Add more to the forum maybe? Also, better image quality as well as more specific categories for cars. I think the categories are a MUST.

That is a good idea, so 458 Speciale's don't get mixed in with standard 458's, and similar situations.

I'm with this (especially the point about the Jaaags).

Stuff that DOESN'T need to change:
. Likes/favorites/comments
. Comment notification system
. Forum
. Photo uploader
. Spotters list

New stuff that I'd like to see:
. Bigger photos
. A few more specific categories
. Clickable URL's in photo descriptions, like how it is in comments
. Maybe some new ways to sort photos on my page (date spotted, date uploaded, etc.)

Liking and commenting should stay the way it is but you should be able to reply to people.

Bigger pictures and better quality. I am always disappointed when I have a very high quality shot and when I upload it, it isn't that good.

also I think there need to be way more categories and maybe even an "other" option under every car.

I'm very pleased to see the Admin directly asking the community for suggesting improvements. In the past that was never the case.
1. Getting rid of the featured/unfeatured would eliminate all the squabbling about pics not getting enough attention. May I suggest something similar to what flickr does and show only the number of page views a photo gets. That lets you know your pics are getting noticed. And that keeps the focus on the cars and not turning things into a competition for likes. That's what i hate about the layout of the current site.

I think if they got rid of the featured/unfeatured pages people would start complaining about the more "normal" cars flooding the main page.

What I want to stay:
-Likes and favorites
-Feauturing
What I would like to see changed:
-Higher quality image
-More categories
-The blog isn't used very much/at all anymore, so maybe we could start using that again? (This one isn't a must, I just think it would be nice to see.)

What should stay:
Comments, likes/favorites, the forum

Would should be added/fixed:
-the features system, my idea for this is all photos start out unfeatured but if they get more than say 25 likes and 5 favorites they become featured

- a chat room would be cool

-higher image quality, and a downsized ES watermark

This is just my view, but they clog up things. Get rid of the ones whom haven't been active in 3+ years regardless of photo quantity

The inactive accounts take up lots of space in the "spotters" area, and their "spotter scores" can hold up active spotters from leveling up. Also, I do not know anything about running websites, but If I am not mistaken the deletion of inactive accounts could speed up the website...?
