A friend used to own a bunch of 911s, and although he can't confirm this for the 991, he said back in the day if it was just a 911 with no Carrera badges, it was a European specification model. Of course, he didn't own one without a Carrera badge, but he knew many people at the local dealer.

The owner probably just ordered the car with the 911 badge instead of having the regular Carrera badge.

This guy (or gal) ordered a "911" badge for the rear of his car instead of the normal "Carrera" badge. Or he ordered it with no badge at all. Can't tell from the pic.
