Ferrari California
fasteppy commented on Ferrari California spotted in Indian Wells, California:
I gotta ask, Graham, is this an edit or a weather event? It doesn't really matter, because this is a great, wonderful photo. I'd guess, because of the stillness & some stuff in the sky, it's an edit. So What. But I want to believe it's the weather. Good composition & car posture, but the thing that makes the Whole photo for me is the girl on the bicycle. Did you stage her? Was she an accidental participant? She's just perfect, also provides the possible narrative component. You could be getting close to Fine Art, so be careful here, let's not have more of this. Have you looked up photographers who stage & direct their photographs, making pictorial fiction? Could be a game changer for you.

(He's talking about the Range Rover)

It does look like it, given the longer looking rear door.
Ferrari LaFerrari
fasteppy commented on Ferrari LaFerrari spotted in Beverly Hills, California:
This is a stretch, but worth mentioning. The second thing that struck me about this photo ( the first obviously being the red La Ferrari) were the white, horizontal, rectilinear architectural components at the top of the frame. These are the unmistakable signatures of Richard Neutra, a modernist residential architect who designed homes in Southern California & Palm Springs from the 1920's through the the early '60's. NO, he did not design this building in the photo. Look him up, he's worth it. So here we have the latest Ferrari, made yesterday, posing in front of a Neutra inspired design, whose design antecedents could be up too @ 90 years old, in Beverly Hills, Southern California where Richard Neutra designed residences. The dialogs between classic, timeless designs, where we live, how we travel are all in this picture. Comparisons & contrasts abound. Forget this building, it only serves to inspire the discussion. Look up Richard Neutra's real buildings. Richard Neutra: 1892/1970. Enzo Ferrari: 1898/1988. Two contemporaneous masters, one photo. I guess this could be better if the La F was actually photographed in front of a Neutra home, but I wasn't called upon to art-direct this shoot.

Yes everything is fine West. Where I live now is not really conducive to exotic spotting. I still live in Florida but not the really rich area. I hope to go back to school soon and move back down south.

Sorry for the delay, haven't revisited this pic for a long time @ Frenchie, thanks for the compliment, much appreciated. Accepting it for the photo & the rarity of the model, the find. I vaguely remember that you made a small remark a while back apologizing for your English. I want to assure you that any praise you give one of my spots is in perfect English, no matter what. @et al, both XKE V8 picks; I agree with you totally about the bumpers. I'll go further, I think this is the worst, Series 3, of the three XKE iterations. It is swollen & grotesque, without grace. How Coventry could produce one of the finest auto designs ever, XKE Series 1 & 2, Enzo himself wished he had designed the XKE, to this swollen, grotesque, graceless...Must've had a change of chefs in the kitchen. If you gave me one, I would not keep it. However, one car I do desire above all others is the XKE Series 1 & 1/2 OTS.
