I find it funny that you guys keep saying you are looking for feedback however you aren't doing anything with the feedback you are receiving. I am yet to see a person who is happy with the new style of moderation but I see multitudes of those who are against it. And also this:

"But that's why we let users rate the photos, if I don't feature a photo that really deserved featuring, it can be upvoted and appear in the highest rated section."

never happens anymore. Currently, when a photo does not make it onto the featured page, regardless of how good the spot is, it will not surpass 10 likes. This is also the reason why, if there is not a category for a car (Like the recent BAC Mono post), people will put it in a category that auto features it. because by putting it in Other, it reduces the amount of likes a photo will get. Anywho to finish my rambling, i'd suggest you make a poll or something and get a vote on your new moderating style, before any more people leave.

While we are on this topic as I have been a little frustrated as of late and have been disappointed seeing the community dwindling most likely due to frustration. I have been on this site since I was young, used to get a ton of likes on a shot of a Bentley and now it's rare to get 20-30 likes on anything. I think despite the quality of the photo, they shouldn't be so compressed when they're uploaded, which may alleviate some of the frustration of the bigger photographers.

@Melgamal - no, I appreciate the constructive criticism. You certainly have valid points. Let's see how this redesign goes, we want to keep improving the site, get feedback, and see how we can make things better. In the future,, we may allow the ability to allow others to curate the site the way they want, thus allowing users to "follow" the curator they like most. I definitely don't want to exclude the amateur spotters, this site is open for all, we'll figure out a way to make it the best exotic spotting site.

To eachs own I guess... Personally I don't agree with bringing out the beauty of a car as a criteria especially if it's at 2 A.M with a camera phone. Should you happen to bring out the beauty, bonus points and you get more likes... I always thought the title "Exotic Spotter" meant the ability of catching them in the wild and playing on the element of surprise, considering the compression rules followed on ES uploads typically are massively scaled down.

Gregg please don't take this as disrespect but if I was looking to upload HQ artistic shots of exotics capturing beauty I would have joined Autogespot and purchased an amazing camera from the jump. When starting the passion of car spotting I was always following this site prior to becoming a member I’d notice peoples spots and the quality, yes some shots are very well done but the amateur aspect made it worth joining. Just voicing out some overdue thoughts, thanks for taking the time to respond back to my earlier post!

The reason this site is about photographing exotic cars in the wild is because that's where you can really capture the beauty of an exotic. When it's out in the real-world, against ordinary objects. The real point of this site is to capture the beauty of exotic cars, to find the best photos of them. I want this site to be a collection of the very best photos, easily searchable and highlighted.

Reason your shots weren't featured is because these shots don't bring out the beauty of the car (in my opinion). Other people have different opinions, but I'm the curator of the featured section. But that's why we let users rate the photos, if I don't feature a photo that really deserved featuring, it can be upvoted and appear in the highest rated section.

Annnnnnd now this shot joins the unfeatured section as well... My patience is wearing thin with this site.... Honestly I came aboard thinking this was all about catching exotics in their element... in the wild, and not always about being parked and having a tripod and good camera.

After all it is mentioned when uploading shots under rules "REAL WORLD only, we want to see cars in the wild: NO car shows, racetracks, driveways, dealerships--what's the fun in that?"

Thanks for the comments guys, Gregg I see what your saying but I thought once upon a time this site was all about the element of catching an exotic in the wild and not nessecarily the quality of the camera and shot etc. I mean I get that cr*ppy grainy shots shouldn't get a feature

Night shots are generally a lot harder to get featured. The lighting quality isn't as good, unless you do a long-exposure shot.

That front shot was great i dont see why they took it down. its a real shame the way this site is changing to be less about cars and more about photography.
