Ferrari 308 GT4 spotted in Auckland, New Zealand

Details on This Ferrari 308 GT4:

  • Location
    Auckland, New Zealand
  • Description
Now, this is another spot from my mate. This is a One of One Ferrari 308 GT4 LeMans edition. This beauty was raced in the 24 Hours of LeMans in the 70's. Might have been 1976. This beauty was bought by some huge Ferrari phenatic from another collector in the United States. This specific Ferrari is chassis number #8020. I have edited this a bit by Fading the photo just a tad as it was quite bright. I have also made the Red Paint on the Ferrari a tad bit brighter for effect.

Thanks Missoni1! The fact that this is the One Off 308 GT4 LM makes this much rarer than any other 308 GT4 on the road.

I really like the edit on this photo, it gives it a kind of 70's era style/look(minus the new-ish Range Rover), very nice. Love the car too

Thanks for the response mojo9434! I also love the racing history for cars like these! Especially, since this is a 1/1 Ferrari race car! This car is insanely awesome!

The greatest thing about any classic car is learning about its heritage :) Especially as you had said, the racing heritage.

Thats the sad truth unfortunately. This car was in the 1976 (I think) LeMans 24 Hour race for its very first year, but only lasted 30 laps due to some electrical gremlins. After that, it became too expensive to run a vehicle like that in the race, so they dropped it. It was then purchased off Ferrari by some collector in America for $900,000 USD. After keeping it for 25-30 years, he then sold it on to a German collector who only had it for 1 year. After the year was up, the Kiwi dude purchased it for upwards of a Million Dollars! Oh, what people do for the love of cars!
