Another "ugh I'm jealous of car week" topic. God this site sucks.

It's not even that, I just think the possibility of getting EC should be more fair to those who haven't attended Car Week. It's way too easy to spot insane stuff there, and imo it gets boring after awhile seeing the same cars picked for EC over and over again. It wipes out the chances of getting EC for anyone else.

Okay fine, here you go.

Lol that's not even a working model. How does that count?

It was still spotted in the wild, and it's still a Lykan after all. Who knows? Maybe a Lykan will show up in Greenwich or somewhere else of that nature in the distant future.

Also, I feel like the spot would be a lot more special if it weren't at car week and it was completely spotted in the wild. That would be very worthy of EC.

Well, life isn't fair. Someone could make the same argument for you and your Greenwich spots if they're from some small town in the middle of Kansas. It's not the same cars over and over again either. The EC is meant to highlight the most amazing cars, and the most amazing cars just happen to be from Car Week.

LOL a concept, in the wild, that's not a working model? How does that even work? If the car can't move under it's own power, how could it even get to be in the wild?

If there was a car more worthy of EC, then it would get it. Unfortunately, there aren't.

Just as an FYI, I live in South Salem, New York, a tiny town 40 minutes away from Greenwich. I haven't been down there in a long time. Plus, Greenwich isn't an organized event. Car Week is.

Also, I would honestly love to go to Kansas because I love classic cars more than exotic cars. I'd assume there is more cool stuff over their than there is here. Everything here I've already found before.

It's nice that all the good cars are coming from car week, but how long is this going to last for?

There have been many different, crazy ways people have found cars on that website before. People there are hardcore leapers. Some examples include the Maybach Exelero Concept Car being shipped onto a plane at a hangar in Sydney, Australia, the first ever known spotting of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 in the middle of nowhere in Corsica, France. and many more. I'm guessing whoever found that Lykan probably found it being ready to be loaded up onto a truck in a secret location before it was released to the public.

I'm just saying, your location is pretty much Car Week in terms of exotics when it comes to someone living in the middle of Kansas who probably hasn't seen any Ferraris other than maybe a 308.

So, that person managed to find the car when it was being shipped to a circuit in Australia. And with the 16.4, I assume you mean first Grand Sport, right? Though it's not really super surprising they'd be doing a photoshoot at a scenic location in the brand's home country. The Lykan wouldn't be sitting out like that unless it'd been at a private event of some sort or it was in the middle of shipping.

Either way, this is getting ridiculously off topic of the real question as to why Car Week spots shouldn't be allowed as EC (because they totally should).

Whenever that kind of thing happens on ES it almost always gets EC.

You are missing my point. Car Week is specifically geared towards cars and cars only. Monaco was not created for cars, but rather the casinos and other stuff. During Car Week, there is an unnatural spike in the odds of finding something good. While Monaco has good cars, it's nothing against car week, and car week is only temporary while Monaco is forever. You see where I'm getting at?

Who even cares about Editor's Choice? If you spot something cool that you like then there's your reward. Who cares about some fake accolade on a random website, that's not what car spotting is about. It doesn't have to be a contest if you genuinely enjoy it. If you only care about what other people think about your spots then you clearly don't even care about the cars you're spotting.

Bingo. ^

Also, it's hard to judge Car Week if you haven't been there before. When bringing up Monaco earlier, I was mainly bringing it up during events such as Top Marques or the Grand Prix or other events. While the area is usually great for cars, it does seem to attract many more nice cars during that time from the photos I've seen.

Second, I compare winning EC by spotting during Car Week like taking steroids to gain muscles. Both give an unfair and unnatural advantage over everyone else. There are not that many cars in Carmel, but during Car Week, it's crazy.

While I'm just as jealous of the people who get to go to car week as the next guy and this site has turned into one huge insane competition for spotter rankings and editors choice (which is ruining Exoticspotter IMO); a muscle is a muscle whether it was gained using steroids, supplements, or naturally. Per the rules that makes it a street spot even during a big event.

Maybe making them pseudo spots would help but it would be impossible to have the mods do that for every event in every city around the world, which would need to happen for it to be fair.

That means every event in Italy, Britain, California, Geneva, China, Greenwich, Watkins Glen, etc...

And even then, people would just start writing fake dates on when they saw the car to get around that and make it unidentifiable towards an event.

Lol it's so easy to say "who cares?!!11!" I do. I care. If nobody cared, why is it a thing? I've been on this website for four years and I still have never won EC. I'm in it to win it.

There's something called EXIF info on your photos, and the admins can check that to determine whether or not a spot is legitimate.

Also, people can always report spots that were taken at events. Autogespot does a pretty good job with making sure there is nothing illegitimate on the website, so I'm sure ES can do a good job too.

You may be right about "a muscle is a muscle", but the way you got it is what's cheap about it. Taking steroids is lazy.
