Anything /can/ happen. I could get hit by a meteor while I'm sitting here on my computer now and die. Does that mean I'm going to go and try to build something to keep it from happening? No. Of course there are some things you should take precautions to keep from happening. Like getting an alarm system to prevent burglaries, or driving safely to keep from getting killed. In some cases, however, I feel if you know and accept the risk, I don't see a massive issue.
It's like cars for example. The government puts idiotic regulations on cars, going so much so to the point of making million dollar exotics illegal because it doesn't have an airbag or something. That mainly affects the occupants of the supercar first of all, and secondly, if you pay a million dollars for something, I'm pretty sure that means you accept any risks that may come along with it.
