You are right, but analysts predict that they will be mainstream by 2025. I am still a bit skeptical of this, but they usually aren't wrong.

I recon they usually are wrong. :P

Still, no one actually knows when they become "mainstream".

Hopefully never. Despite the fact that there is the high chance of it being safer, I don't trust a self-driving car all that much.

You have a point. If there is a glitch in the system, there will be crashes left and right.

also that takes the fun out of driving, I saw a guy doing almost 100 in a Porsche today. With auto-drive cars that will never happen.

What about something that I thought of (yet somewhow BMW is testing) that when you press a button on the key fob the car comes to you? I think that should work. It may take a lot of computing power for it but I think it will be a success.

Audi already did that more or less. I saw a video on it at least a year ago. I can imagine that would just make parking lots a total mess.

But what if you push the button and there happened to be a car crash/obstruction in between the pathway of you and your car... Would the car be able to get around it logically?

BMW is also testing an automatic Valet Parking Assistant for a multi-story garage where you can control it with your smart watch so the valets don't have to drive your car.

Aspiring teens? Last I heard the minimum age for a valet was 18, and even then I don't think many people that young would get hired to do that for insurance reasons.
