It's pretty common to outsource your engine if you're a smaller manufacturer. Pagani for instance uses AMG V12's, and little known fact Chevrolet actually contracted Mercury (The boat engine builders, not the car manufacturer) to build some of the LT-5 V8's for the C4 Corvette ZR-1's.
