OMG THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS... Here's mine:

Why tf did this get featured:

and these didn't:

Yes, a 918 didn't get featured. at all. It's not even that terrible of a shot (and it's the only one posted in Houston!)! And that Aventador pic is one of the best shots I've taken!

This is just BS, tbh. I sort of get that the admins feature shots with nice backgrounds, but in the end this is still a site for exotic cars, and that's the whole reason people come here. Not to see some nice backgrounds.

The first one shouldn't be featured. It was either uploaded before I started moderating, or somehow slipped through the cracks.

The 2nd one is not feature worthy - it just looks like it was shot at a hotel parking lot or something. I mean, Aventador is cool and all, but there are tons of photos of them. Got to get a nice angle at least.

The 3rd one would have been featured if the top and bottom wasn't cut off of the photo. These types of edits ruin the thumbnails.

Again, keep in mind that these are my own personal preferences. My job is to curate the site and select photos I feel are feature worthy. You guys can still rate photos yourselves and see the highest rated photos that the community picks.

I think you are being a bit too strict with your choosing. The Aventador and 918 pictures are fine, and messing with the thumbnail alone should not be enough to get ones photo taken off of the front page. As for the Aventador, the angle, quality, cropping is all fine and high quality, and whats wrong with taking pictures at hotel parking lots now? you guys have seemed to totally forgot what spotting is all about, not the quality of the shot so much as it is seeing the cars.

This is what it seems to be boiling down to nowadays:

Photography skills > everything else about spotting in general

I would like to see the guidelines for spots being featured to be a little lighter, I think most of us would rather have an occasional not-the-best picture being featured than really good pictures being not-featured. Does anyone else see it that way? Maybe it's just me haha

Ok Gregg I get your reasoning. Also BTW it isn't a hotel, it isn't even valet parking, it's just in a shopping center. He was driving away as I spotted it, so I couldn't get better shots.

Dear Greg,

I do not trust your ability to judge the quality of a photo.

Thanks,

Eh, I partially agree with you. But mainly I am saying that greggggg does not have the competence to decide how good a photo is.

And I don't say that to be snooty. I truly believe that you (Grieg) do not have good enough photography skills to determine what is worthy of being featured.

Since you don't offer any constructive criticism, all I can say is you're free to start your own spotting site and run it exactly how you want to.

Touche. Alright, my constructive criticism for you is to spend more time studying the work of great car photographers like Alex Penfold, Axion, Amin Siala, Ivan Orlov, and even spotters on this site like Teresa, Linus Kastner, Jon, and Brayden.

I think you (and exoticspotter.com) would benefit from you taking time to notice the effects of polarizers, darkness, motion blur, bokeh, light trails, and the many other intricate things that can make a picture look cool INSTEAD of focusing so much on whether the background is "interesting" or not.

Of course, my perspective is slightly limited because I'm judging your ability solely on a) the pictures you have posted on this site, and b) the pictures you have and have not featured. But still, I think you really should reassess the way you approach featuring pictures, if you're going to continue with this new system.

You've created an amazing site with a great community (so I won't be leaving any time soon), but I think you must address this problem before even more people leave this site.

I occasionally do some of that as well when I have the time.
