An original mini. Or a Lotus

Hahaha don't think a mini really fits me, my friend suggested a Lotus at dinner tonight the only problem is I have no clue where to get it fixed should it break!

Couldn't find one with low enough mileage that wasn't really old.

I'm not going to offer up a specific car, since I don't know you very well, but I will say that you should get whatever car will suit you best (as in speed, comfort, etc), and get you from point A to B without breaking down and without endangering you or your occupants.

If you want something that's sporty, comfy, and still half exotic, I would look into a used CL55 AMG for around 15 grand. Not sure about the gas, or how easy it would be to insure though.

I still say Ford Focus ST. Good driver's car, 6-speed manual, 252 hp, very subtle good looks, and you can option one out completely for like 30k.

No, vehicle insurance laws are determined from state to state though most states do require it. Here in NJ it is mandatory but I'd wager 1/3 of drivers don't have insurance anyway.

If you dont have insurance in NY and you get caught, you get a massive ticket. And the police can do random stops on any day they feel like it. They'll park on the entrance to a town and check everyone that goes through.

How about a Golf GTI or a Golf R. German efficiency put together with good pace.

Here in the UK, if your 18 the best car you can get is like a Fiesta because otherwise no one will insure you and it's mandatory to have insurance.

That's way too much. You can get 2008 models for less than $40,000.
