I have a 3300 and was debating between it and a T3/T3i.

I'm very happy with my D3300 (now that I know how to use it lol), but two of the main reasons why I went with it over a Canon was because T3/T3i production had ended making it extremely difficult to find them, and the base Canon lenses felt pretty cheap to me.

You can get a new D3300 with the base 18-55mm lens for $500 right now, from NikonUSA.com, though you might be able to get it cheaper (or maybe for $550 or so with the 18-55 mm and 55-200 mm lens combo)...Nikon is ending production of it and the D3200/3300 line is on sale right now. Just make sure to budget a bit more for a good memory card and filter (about $100 or so)...I have an 8GB memory card and have not had any capacity issues (but I do copy my pics onto my computer so that they don't accumulate on the memory card) and a clear Promaster 52mm filter to protect my lens, because I'd rather spend $35 on a new filter than $80 or so on a new (used) lens.

That^^
I also have a D3300, and am thrilled with the performance :)
Also, I mught suggest looking into a kit; I found an awesome kit for $725 that included the camera and two lenses, the 18-55mm and a 70-300mm. Also came with many filters and other useful equipment. That's just my input thought :)

I'd say try the new A7ii. Might be the ideal Carspotting camera due to its size, low profile, and high-ISO performance.

Lol my wish came true

Would anyone recommend the D7200? I've been looking at it quite a bit and I'm ready to move up from an entry-level DSLR.

I love my T3 but my lens is a little too good for the body so I want to upgrade to the 60D or 7D. Anybody know which is better for spotting and photography in general?

The 7D is a much better camera

I'm thinking about a used Nikon D3100, or a similar camera. I don't want anything too fancy or complicated, just a good entry-level DSLR to replace the 10-year old point-and-shoot I've been using (which still works fine other than the annoying speck of dust on the sensor). Any ideas? I'd rather not something over about $275.
