For many people, this would be a really hard question. However, i will have to say Canon.
Reasons for this: There is a bigger number of lenses you can get for Canon, and generally, they are cheaper. The reason why i opted for Canon, was because my college use Canon Fit lenses, so it would prove helpful if i ever needed to borrow any. Plus, the first DSLR i tried using was a Canon.
Nikons are by no means terrible in any way. They are pretty awesome too, and both camera companies make brilliant products, but by previous choices i've made, i would have to go for Canon, since i have the EOS 1100D too. If i ever was to upgrade, i would still stick to the EOS range.

i totaly agree with what you said ^^^^^^ main reason i chose a canon is because my grandad has one so i knew how to use it. I also have an EOS 1100D but my grandad has a 550D

I like Canons but I don't really have a logical reason for that. Both companies make great cameras.

I like Canon's sensors more but i like Nikon's resolution.
