This is just an idea, what if we had a bar that could show how far your upload is (like youtube). That would help people know how long it's going to take. What do you think?

Unique idea but it doesn't seem too necessary. Plus, certain browsers tell you the percentage uploaded at the bottom.

I could see this being useful back when PNG was uploadable because the file sizes were bigger and it took some time to upload if you had a slow internet connection. Now, with JPEG, it isn't really necessary even if your connection is slow.

Of course, but there is no point in converting a photo to PNG and uploading it in that format now that there is no boost in quality of the image displayed over a normal JPEG upload.

Lots of uploaded original jpegs a between 2 and 5 megs in size.
In the current topic's context it is pretty big.

PS: pngs are usually from 2 to 7-8 megs.
