Likes + favorites and some other stuff perhaps go into some sort of algorithm and translate to a score which is then translated into a ranking. For example, andrew has the highest score thus giving him the rank #1.

I'm worried that the higher-rated people won't like lower-rated people's photos because they want to protect their spot.
I don't think any higher rated person is going to care. If they don't like the photo, chances are they wouldn't have liked it with the old system anyway.
i'm trying to figure out why jason has a higher ranking than me
and the only thing i can think of is that he post alot of photos that get alot of negative comments... and normal exotic uploads usually get low comments so he is getting more comments for the wrong reason
so with comments having a factor in this is it the amount of comments or something like that?
