This would be true save for that fact that Aston Martin was a Ford product. It's more like "Ford is the quiet yet secretly wealthy kid that kept loaning out his lunch money and finally decided to call in a few of those loans".
In the last 30 years Ford has owned major stakes in Mazda, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Volvo. Aston Martin's current design sensibilities were introduced while they were owned by Ford meaning that Ford didn't copy AM, they simply reused in current model line ups designs that were already theirs to begin with.
