Anybody else have some odd experiences with ES moderation?

I'm fairly new, but generally have high standards/hopes for social sites like this, and have been seriously disappointed/confused a couple times already.

First, a Fisker Karma I uploaded all of a sudden disappeared from the featured list. What's going on? Asked a couple other members, then tested and uploaded another, yeah, still featured. Had to conclude some mod arbitrarily decided to downgrade my photo. Weird.

Then today, the Bentley Continental R I uploaded yesterday was changed to be listed as a straight Continental instead of the Turbo R I had categorized it as. If you know anything about the Continental R, it's the same as the Turbo R, but 2 doors instead of 4. Fewer than 1600 made. Very rare and cool. Certainly I would think should be featured just as the Turbo R, still has the turbos and everything. So why would a mod downgrade it to the everyday, mass produced Continental category? Again odd.

Starting to give me bad feelings about ES, if this is the kind of moderation it gets.

Anybody else want to share their unsettling experiences with ES mods?

Well, I can easily reply to the Continental R one. Seeing as how it was not a Turbo R, but a Continental R. I have no idea why the Turbo R is featured, and while I love the car I don't think it should be. Posting a car in an incorrect category just to get it featured is rather pointless. That's like posting an S8 in a Continental category with the logic of arguing that because it has the same engine it should be exotic.

But a Continental R is not a Continental... which is assuming GT. A Continental R is 99% a Turbo R. Feel free to think it shouldn't be featured, that's not what I'm concerned with, but to reclassify a Continental R as a generic Continental when it's so much more a Turbo R... Maybe I'm saying there should be a category "Continental R and Turbo R" because they're basically the same thing. Everybody knows a Continental is a GT or Flying Spur. It's not an R. I didn't classify it as something it isn't to get it featured, I put it in the closest available category given that there wasn't a Continental R category.

But mainly, again, I'm saying I've found the moderation odd and rather arbitrary, despite your argument.

He mods/admins never use our ideas for the site.

Not everyone knows that. The category is not labeled as a Continental GT or a Continental Flying Spur, it's just a Continental category for Continentals, and included in that is the R. The Turbo R category is for, well, Turbo Rs. That'd be like posting an Azure in the Brooklands category, because of how they are the same thing, with one merely being a convertible.

An Azure is actually a convertible Continental R... And there's categories for both an Azure and Brooklands... but not a Continental R. Anybody looking at this car can tell it's not the same as the modern Continentals.

Well, the earlier Azures are. The later model Azures are merely convertible versions of the Brooklands. People can see the distinction of the car, but that doesn't mean that it should be placed in an entirely different category.

It'd be like making an old and new category for the DBS and V8 Vantages from Aston Martin, while the old do get mixed in with the new, they do still share the same nameplate.

If that's the case...

But seriously, there are so many categories that are missing, why take the effort to recategorize a Continental R from Turbo R to Continental? Try searching the Morgan Aero 8's, for example, 80% of them are +4's or three wheelers. Are we going to move them all to Other Other because there's no Morgan category for them, and so that's the most appropriate place to put them?

That's what I mean about arbitrary. There's so much mis-categorization going around, that when I get targeted, it feels unfair.

Mods have nothing to do with missing categories. We can try to put them in whatever category best suits the post but if there's not a category for the car it's not on us.
