Everyone else, sorry u don't have a holiday today. 'Murica!

Who are you thanking?

I never thought about that.

The settlers in Newfoundland, a native Indian helped them. Hence Thanksgiving.

I'm not an expert on this subject but it would make sense. You know, coming from northern Europe, there's Canada first.

It's in North America. My apologies. But the rest is true. Then they spread around America. That's why no one ever heard of Washington back here. But over there it's ur Capitol, and York becomes New York. You see?

Thanksgiving isn't about thanking any Native American or anything, that's all folktale to make us feel good. The settlers slaughtered 95% of the Indian population. And if any Native American did sit down with a Pilgrim for dinner, they'd die of some terrible disease soon after. Thanksgiving was originally just supposed to represent being thankful to God. It was a religious holiday and it made sense. Then they wanted to make it secular and didn't know who they should be thanking. So we eventually wound up with being thankful, not to a person, but instead to pure luck. The luck that is needed to have a family and a roof over our heads. It doesn't make sense really because some people lose that stuff and more. Can be lucky one day and lose all of that luck the next. But, nevertheless, we continue celebrating.

I'm sorry I was just commenting that it makes sense that when coming from Europe you arrive to Canada first, nothing to the actual theory. But good post and all.
