Cool but you could buy a Nikon d3100 with like 10 more dollars
and it has a better reputation.

Better image quality, you have the opportunity to take control over everything but with a point an shoot you can only take control of very few things if anything at all...

Better how, the megapixels? Or the overall quality due to a bigger lens?

megapixels don't really mean a lot, its about sensor size etc... lenses do help a lot with the different types of glass

taken with a canon EF-S 18-55 KIT

Taken with canon 70-200mm F2.8 EF L

point and shoots tend to expose how it thinks you wont the exposure to be... keep asking me questions if you want to know more

I've been doing a lot of research since last night, and I'm starting to understand cameras better. I think I have decided to save up and get a Nikon D3300. The only lens I'll have is the one that comes with it, since I don't have much money to put into it, and it would be my first non point and shoot. I've read its a nice camera for beginners.

Yeah that's a great camera! Go on to youtube and look at digitalrevs review of it.

Also try a canon t3i or the canon 1100d as they are both great cameras that are cheap.

Nikons are great for low light photography, canons are great for image quality.. Everyone has a biase towards either. I am canon biased lol
