Have you considered getting a Mustang, Elise, or Delorean? Those are fairly cheap and pretty awesome cars.

That may be, but you can't get them for anything near $500.

323s are actually really fun little cars; they're supposed to be incredibly nimble and easy to work on. if you wanted another alternative, you could always go for something like a crx or even a w10 mr2 if you can find them low enough

I'll probably end up with a Chevy Cruze or Equinox. Possibly an F150 though... To be decided this summer.

Okay im really considering this as my starter car. The only thing that turns me off about it is that its a Manual. What do you guys think?

1991 Mazda 323

How is a manual transmission a bad thing? That's the best part! A 323 isn't a rocket by any means, and it'll feel even less so with an automatic (no matter how little power a car has, it usually feels more potent with a stick). I'd probably recommend looking at something a little newer to be honest, if you could afford it, but you really can't go wrong with a manual trans (and as an added bonus, whenever I'm talking to girls and tell them I drive a stick, I instantly become the envy of every other guy there who can't drive one lol).

Since we're on this topic, I'll go ahead and say that I'll probably inherit my dad's Audi A6. Manual, of course : ) Not a rocket (which is probably good considering I love to hammer it every now and then) but it's a good driving car and is simple to work on.

More of a VW fan than Acura (except for all their sport cars) so I'd probably go for the Touareg, but it will probably require more maintenance and care than the Acura.

I don't think you're impressing the audience you intended to.
