Have you ever tried to explain car spotting to anyone that doesn't understand and they just say, "what's the point?" I try to explain it to my female coworkers and they think I go out looking for like Hondas and toyotas. They think it is a waste of time and money. What do you say to people that may not understand, or do you even bother.

My friend saw all the cars that I had been posting and he said he wanted to go with me next time I went. Then I had to explain how most of the time you see nothing or very insignificant stuff, and that seemed to turn him off. When my dad was driving me around Monterey, he also didn't seem to understand why we would have to randomly turn around or pull into parking lots suddenly.

Lol Dylan, if he says that to his female coworkers, he's gonna get some weird looks. Art/photography is what it is. Photographing a toyota camry is not special because you see them everywhere and they aren't exotic. I've never met a woman (I know there are 1 or 2 on this site though) who could comprehend the meaning of "exotic" so, honestly, I don't think you should even bother trying to explain that part. Women I know are more concerned with whether or not a car is "cute." Just stick to art/photography lol

It's really a fun hobby for car enthusiasts and photographers because you get to see exotic cars and take pictures of them!

Why do people go bird spotting?
Or fishing?

It exercises the brain trying to recognize cars from long distances, its a good use of time, and its just a fun thing for car enthusiasts to do
