Why I would buy it:
. Customization of wraps, plates, wheel color
. Awesome cars, including Ferraris
. Nice graphics

(If I get any of these wrong, please correct me. I almost want to be wrong.)
Why I wouldn't buy it:
. Not enough customization (it's purely textural)
. I heard that the only car you can have as cop and racer is the Aston Vanquish (that's right, you can't customize an LFA, GT-R, FF, etc.)
. Unappealing gameplay (it's all based on running from the cops, hitting people with EMPs, and smashing people. Imagine the multiplayer, ugh.)
. No cockpit view
. I'm assuming no manual transmission

It seems like a pretty good game in all I guess. I think the creators need to stop appealing to a younger audience with smashing, EMPs, etc., and work more on the sim-racing and customization aspects. Too much arcade.

Quoting this Q & A article from Need for Speed's website: "And with Rivals being an action racing game we provide you with a first person and third person view, but not from the cockpit."



In the same article, someone asked "When you say personalization, do you mean full customization like Need For Speed Underground series, or do we get preset bodykits, the typical. change of wheel color and custom decals. I want the over the top customization back"

And they answered, "...In Rivals, we let you personalize your car in a couple different ways. The first is how it looks as you can choose from millions of different colors, rims, decals, license plates and liversies. The second is through performance..."

So... yeah. From what they're saying, there will be a very large selection of various wraps for your cars and whatnot (which is awesome btw), but no bodykits or anything. I think they actually do let you change the rims, but I haven't seen anything yet...

Also, like I said, as of now you can't have any car as racer and cop. So you can't customize cars like the LFA, Venom GT, Ferrari FF, Agera R, Nissan GT-R, or any other cars that are there as cops. You might be able to modify the cop livery on it, but they'll remain cop cars. The only one that's offered as both is the Aston Martin Vanquish.

Are they available in just race form?

You CAN change the rims. I just saw a trailer on their website with someone changing the rims on an Audi R8

After reading all this stuff posted here about the game I can't really figure out why would anyone spend $60 on this?
