R.I.P Top Gear! :( such a sad day

Seriously. F**K the BBC -.-

This blows. Top Gear got me into cars when I was in 8th grade. That show is the reason I'm on this site, why I photograph cars, all of it. R.I.P.

Today will now be called "International Jeremy Clarkson Day" and will be mourned as an annual holiday.

I can somewhat see why they made it. Jeremy did a stupid thing and disciplinary action needed to be taken.

However, there were much better ways of handling this. The BBC has essentially just caused themselves to lose large amounts of money and viewers over this decision. It's been estimated that Top Gear makes the BBC $225 million in revenue, and I'm sure the massive drop in viewership from just one or all three stars leaving will bring them to lose a lot of that money. A better way of handling it really would have been a fine, apology, lecture, and then move past it.

BBC can go disappear. Clarkson's an oaf, we all know that. He punches a man in the face, so what? Fine him a fiver and move on with your life. Bring back TG!

That trip to the Top Gear studio got me thinking about how often great car content is buried behind paywalls. I didn’t want to sign up for yet another subscription, so I started checking options people recommended for free streaming. Looking through vix helped me understand what kind of lineup they offered. Turns out it’s packed with Spanish-language content, but also a surprising number of car-related shows and action flicks. It ran smoothly on my smart TV, and the variety kept things interesting without needing to juggle apps or login screens. Solid choice for casual nights in.
